What to plant on a grave: choosing by climate

Low-water species

Lavender, thyme, marjoram and sedum withstand the dry summers of Central and South-eastern Anatolia. They are the first choice where watering is not possible.

What to avoid

Spreading ivy and fast-growing shrubs cross into neighbouring graves and are banned in most cemeteries. Asking the rules beforehand beats having plants removed later.
